The John
Wood grinding mill, built in 1838 and located at Deep River park, is
still working. Although the power is electric now, they still grind
corn there that you can buy as a souvenir. The setting is beautiful!
All the flowers and plants surrounding the mill are well kept and really
make the place one of the prettiest in Hobart. Many weddings are held
out by the gazebo. There are some nice long
hiking trails and an open field with a landing strip for remotely control
model airplanes. Behind the Mill there is a reconstructed sawmill. It's
a great place to picnic or just take a leisurely stroll, even in the
winter. Here are some nice links
related to the park.
