Happy, happy, birthday to your Mom, Zeta. So nice to have a wonderful mother. You and your husband are great people who take good care of your Mom. My parents were so wonderful, too, and I envy you and I wish mine were still here. |

Hello from a Brickie in Hobart,
A Happy Note for the Day, My Mother is 110 years old today lives with us most of the time. For those who might remember her. Mrs. Wittman (as elders were called in our era) enjoyed being a Girl Scout Leader, Religious instructor and Fund raiser for various project at St. Bridgets, Voting at all the elections, as well as, 'working the polls', loved playing Bridge and mostly being a great Mother. She is Hobart's oldest resident and a Super Centurion. |

Hi, Danny, from a fellow '56 classmate. Hope all is well with you and your family. Hope everyone has a great summer. Sure wish I could get to Hobart soon but that will have to wait until my new knee gets better. |

I recall that your grandfather, Gordon Huntington, was the City Engineer for years in the late 60's or early 70's. My father-in -law was on the city council at that time.
Ward family - You had a number of siblings if I remember, Your father worked at NIPSCO the same time that I worked there, I think.
Hobart is a lovely place to live and a great place to raise a family.
Best regards,
 |

Great website! Thanks for all of the work you did on it and for sharing it. My grandparents, Gurdon & Dollie Huntington, lived in Hobart for years. Does anyone remember them? |

What a lovely site! Where is the best place to park for the walk around Lake George? I am a SAHM with an 11 month old and I can't wait to get out of the house this spring/summer! |

The Ward family lived there until 1963. We moved to Roseland in South Chicago when the house became too small. I still often think of the old town and the good old times we had there. I can't remember for sure, but I believe we lived on the corner of Colorado and 42nd Ave. that sure was a long time ago. I recently received an e-mail from Howie Oaf who still lives there on the lake and gave me this site. I will return from time to time to see how it has changed. |

I check this website several times a week and hope someone posts an interesting message soon. What's going on in Hobart? Surely something interesting is happening in that pretty little town. Hope you all have a wonderful springtime. |

If you can find a way to come and get some of our snow and take it to Vancouver for the Olympics, we have plenty. Please take all of it! Please! |

Jackie, we're supposed to get another snow storm here starting late tonight and into Tuesday. Husband going to the store to buy milk and basic necessities. It seemed that when I was living in Lake County we got a lot of snow and cold weather. I remember one winter when I was in grade school we got a blizzard and I walked to school from our house on the southwest side of Lake George across the frozen lake and downtown to the Lutheran School. The only person besides me who made it was Mr. Berlin. Remember 20 degrees below zero winter days were not that uncommon. I'd rather have snow and very cold weather than 40 degrees and rain. |

Thanks for this great website. My wife, Colleen Earle Sheehan, is related to George Hobart Earle, founder of Hobart.
I enjoyed reading the history of Hobart and walking the tour.

Hi Pat,
We got about 2 inches, but just barely. We've had a pretty mild winter up here compared to most. And especially compared to last year with all of the sub zero temps in the minus teens.
I really want at least one more good snow storm before winter is over!

Did you folks in Hobart get snow yesterday and last night? Here just south of Indianapolis we got about 7", and east of us they got even more. Sure is nice to be fortunate enough to have a roof over our heads and snug as bugs with the furnace going. We even have a wood furnace for backup in case the power goes out. Hate to think what homeless people have to go through at any time but especially in weather like this. |
