The Art Theatre

Unlike the typical mall theatre, The Art Theatre offers a different movie watching experience. Constructed in 1941, it has a high ceiling decorated with murals. Its large screen and roomy seating area make the theatre quiet and relaxing. Ed Prusieki opened The Art Theater on Wednesday August 27, 1941. Hundreds of patrons arrived from Hobart and the surrounding communities to see Fred MacMurray's film, "One Night in Lisbon". Fancy velvet programs were handed to patrons dressed up for the big event. With less than 10,000 TV's in the US, this was an experience not to be taken lightly. An entertainer at heart, Ed greeted the new arrivals on the opening night with the same smile he has gleaned at patrons for over half of a century.
